Why Is FIFA Game Breaking Away From EA Sports?

FIFA Game :

There’s a major announcement in the multi-billion dollar gaming industry that might upset both video games and football fans.

FIFA Game is breaking away from the giant videogame maker Electronic Arts that had been giving out FIFA Games to the fans since 1993 with its first game in the franchise – FIFA International Soccer.

Electronic Arts (EA Sports) officially announced that it is ending its ties with FIFA to make FIFA Game hereafter.

FIFA branded football titles are some of the most profitable brands in gaming history. And FIFA announced that it will be launching its own football games under its original banner. “The FIFA name is the only global, original title,” stated FIFA about the FIFA Game.

EA Sports when asked about its own football titles stated that core models and the gameplay mechanics will be similar to what they were producing in the FIFA Game, and the new football games will have a broader range of experiences along with the next level ability to play.

“The studio thinks it’s time to move in a different direction in order to build a ‘brand for the future,” David Jackson, vice president at EA Sports said to BBC.

“The world of football and the world of entertainment is changing and they clash within one product,” he added.

When questioned about the part-away, Mr. Jackson stated that it wasn’t ultimately down the money but accepted it did play a major role in the decision-making process.

EA Sports had its last licensing deal with FIFA in 2013, and it has been reported that the Football Federation has significantly upped its license price this time to more than a billion dollars per 4-year world cup cycle.

FIFA on the other hand revealed on its platform it will be launching its own new FIFA Game by partnering with 3rd-party studios and publishers, extending choice for gaming and football fans alike in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and beyond.

FIFA also revealed that it’s working on a new FIFA simulation game title that is planned to release in 2024.

“I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans,” said Gianni Infantino, The President of FIFA.

EA Sports stated that it has signed up 19,000 athletes, 700 teams, 100 stadiums, and more than 30 leagues like La Liga, Bundesliga, and UEFA, these new football titles will continue to offer real-world experience.
