Bungie Teaming Up With Sony For $3.6 Billion

Bungie :

War of acquisition between the tech titans began steaming up ever since Mark Zuckerberg announced Metaverse in 2021.

The buying and new collaboration between the tech giants are happening almost every week around the world to keep up with the revolutionizing trend of AR.

The announcement of PlayStation – Maker Sony buying Halo-Creator Bungie for $3.6 billion was made only days after the announcement of Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard for $70 billion, the biggest acquisition by Microsoft Corp.

“I am absolutely thrilled to announce a new member will be joining the PlayStation family. I have admired and enjoyed the games that they create – and have great respect for their skill in building worlds that gamers want to explore,” said Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios in a report.

Since 1991, they have been creating video games for computers that run on Microsoft Windows Software, Xbox Consoles, and PlayStation.

However, after the announcement of the collaboration, PlayStation has officially confirmed that Bungie will remain an independent and multi-platform studio and publisher.

“We believe games have limitless potential, and that to do anything worthwhile in entertainment we must bet big on our vision,” said Pete Parsons, CEO of Bungie.

Sony has its plans to compete with Metaverse in the AR world. The company already has its virtual reality headgear, and reports state that Sony is developing next-gen sensors for the AR world for immersed gaming experiences.

Bungie is working on its Destiny, an online 1st person multi-player shooter franchise in a sci-fi world.
