Without any hesitation, the users are making their leap towards Telegram after the news about a change in Whatsapp’s terms of service, it stated that Whatsapp will be sharing some level of users’ data with Facebook.
Within just 72 hours, the app has seen more than 25 million new users from around the planet.
This UAE-based messaging app was founded in August 2013 by two Russian brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov, they also founded the Russian social network VK in 2014 but it was taken over by Russian authorities.
“These new users came from across the globe, we’ve had surges of downloads before throughout our 7-year history of protecting user privacy. But this time is different. People no longer want to exchange their privacy for free services,” the CEO said in a report.

Whatsapp tried to clarify that the update of its users’ policy will not affect the privacy of the users and their chat with family and friends will be as strongly encrypted as ever before and that even the responsible platform cannot see or listen to any of their private messages and calls.
But it looks like the anxious users have made up their minds. Whatsapp witnessed a 2.3% drop in their global download numbers. While other messaging apps like Signal have seen a surge in users after the founder of Tesla, Elon Musk had suggested going for “Signal” on his Twitter feed.
Telegram aims to amass a billion users by the end of the year.
