Samsung Might Launch Its First Tri-Fold Smartphone Soon: Here’s What to Expect

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to revolutionize the foldable smartphone market once again, this time with a bold leap into tri-fold design. After years of refining its book-style and clamshell foldables, the tech giant is now rumored to launch its “first tri-fold smartphone”, potentially named the “Samsung Galaxy G Fold”, as early as 2026.

A flurry of recent leaks has revealed promising details about the phone’s design, display technology, and features, suggesting it may set a new benchmark for innovation.

Samsung Galaxy G Fold: A Glimpse into the Future of Foldables

According to prominent leaker “Digital Chat Station”, the Galaxy G Fold will feature a “9.9-inch display” when fully unfolded. This puts it slightly behind Huawei’s Mate XT (10.2 inches), the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, but Samsung’s design philosophy may give it a functional edge.

Unlike the Mate XT’s outward folding mechanism, Samsung is rumored to use a “dual inner-folding display”, which not only improves durability but also protects the screen from scratches and accidental drops.

This tri-fold mechanism could allow for three display modes: a standard smartphone mode, a tablet-like mode when fully expanded, and a hybrid mode for multitasking. The tech giant is expected to integrate “advanced multitasking features” in its “One UI software” to leverage this flexible screen real estate.

Hardware and Charging Capabilities

Under the hood, the Galaxy G Fold may come equipped with a “Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset”, depending on its final release timeline. Paired with up to “16GB of RAM” and “1TB of internal storage”, the tri-fold could deliver a premium computing experience in a flexible form.

Leaked reports also hint at “charging speeds between 23W and 24W”, which, while lower than current ultra-fast-charging standards (up to 200W), may be due to limitations imposed by the tri-fold battery design. The foldable battery is expected to be split across multiple segments to accommodate the tri-fold structure.

Expected Pricing and Availability

Early estimates place the Galaxy G Fold’s price at around “$2,800 (approx. Rs. 2.38 lakh)”, positioning it as one of the most premium smartphones in the world. This is consistent with Samsung’s pricing strategy for cutting-edge foldable devices.

While an “exact launch date” is still under wraps, sources suggest the device could launch in “early 2026”, with Samsung potentially offering a “limited regional rollout” in markets such as “China and South Korea”, followed by a global expansion based on market feedback.

What to Expect at the Next Galaxy Unpacked Event

The parent comany may tease or officially reveal the Galaxy G Fold at its upcoming “Galaxy Unpacked event”, where other high-profile launches are expected, including the “Galaxy Z Fold 7”, “Galaxy Z Flip 7”, and possibly a budget-friendly “Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE”.

With Samsung entering the tri-fold arena, the next generation of smartphones could change how we define mobile productivity and portability. The Galaxy G Fold is shaping up to be more than just a foldable – it could be a game-changer for the industry.

“Stay tuned for more leaks, official announcements, and hands-on coverage as Samsung inches closer to revealing its most ambitious foldable yet.”
