Rare T-Rex Skeleton Goes On Auction In Switzerland For $8 Million!

T-Rex Skeleton :

A rare and nearly complete T-Rex skeleton named TRX-293 Trinity is set to go on auction in Switzerland, with experts predicting it could fetch millions of dollars.

The skeleton, which measures over 3.9 meters (12.8 feet) tall and 11.6 meters (38.1 feet) long, is believed to be one of the most complete and well-preserved T. Rex specimens ever discovered.

The T-Rex, also known as the tyrant lizard king,” is a carnivorous dinosaur that roamed the earth around 68 million years ago during the late Cretaceous Period. It is widely considered to be one of the most iconic and fearsome creatures to ever exist, and specimens of its fossils are highly sought after by collectors and museums around the world.

The T-Rex skeleton, which was discovered in the United States in 1987, has been painstakingly excavated and prepared over the past few decades. It is believed to be around 67 million years old and is estimated to be over 80% complete, with many of its bones still intact.

The auction will be conducted by a Swiss auction house in Zurich on April 18, and experts predict that the T-Rex skeleton could fetch anywhere from $6 million to $9 million.

The high price tag is due to the rarity and completeness of the specimen, as well as the high demand for T-Rex fossils in the collector and museum markets. This T-Rex skeleton has a total of 293 bones and is constructed out of three individuals, hence the name TRX-293 Trinity.

This is the first T-Rex skeleton to be offered at auction in Europe.

“The name of this skeleton is ‘Trinity’ because it’s built out of three individuals and all were found in the US,” said Cyril Koller, owner of the auction house conducting the sale.

While some have criticized the sale of such rare and valuable specimens to private collectors, others argue that it is important to preserve and study these fossils in order to better understand the history and evolution of life on earth.

“It’s not a cast or a copy, it’s the original. And there are very few, very few. In fact, until about 1970 or 1980, there used to be less than a dozen Tyrannosaurus, most of them were already in United States museums,” said Hans-Jakob Siber, a paleontologist at the Aathal Dinosaur Museum in Switzerland.

The T-Rex skeleton auction is expected to draw interest from collectors and museums around the world, with many hoping to acquire this rare and significant piece of natural history. The auction is set to take place in the coming months, and many will be watching closely to see who will end up owning this extraordinary piece of history.
