PlayStation Plus, Sony’s 3-tier Mega Subscription Pack

PlayStation Plus :

The silent war of the tech giants in the virtual world is heating up. And the prize is the loyalty of the netizens.

Recently Sony announced the launch of the PlayStation Plus subscription service which experts believe is the response to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.

The company will merge the two subscription services – PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now

It includes options to access multiplayer gaming and a directory of select games to stream or install. This new service is a 3-tier mega subscription plan that includes PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium.

These new plans for the customers will be made available in June in Asia, followed by North America and Europe. And Sony will stop the PlayStation Now service as a standalone during the launch.

PlayStation (PS) Plus Essential will have multiplayer access, a pair of new games every month for discount downloads, and cloud storage.

The pack is set at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year.

PS Plus Extra will have all the services of Plus Essential along with access to a catalog of close to 400 PS4 or PS5 games. The plan is priced at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year.

PS Plus Premium will house all the benefits of both Essential and Extra subscription plans along with 340 games of PlayStation 3 titles. These can also be streamed. The service also includes some true PlayStation, PS2, and PSP games with time-limited game trails, and is priced at $17.99 per month or $119.99 a year.

“The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PS Plus,” said PS CEO Jim Ryan to The Verge.

During the launch, Sony is expected to include Marvel’s Spider-Man, Death Stranding, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, God of War, and Returnal.

However, experts believe that the company won’t release the upcoming exclusive PlayStation games on launch day.

“With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart,” Ryan added. He also stated that their own games could suffer if they release them all at once.
