Windows 11: Everything You Need To Know

Microsoft has rolled out its latest installment of the Windows operating system – Windows 11. It was launched a few hours before the official launch of Windows 11 – powered hardware worldwide.

Microsoft stated that if you have bought Windows 10 hardware recently, you can upgrade Windows 10 to the latest version right away. And for the rest, this new operating system (OS) will be gradual.

The company also stated that the already existing, Windows 10 – powered devices are allowed for the Windows 11 upgrade from today, but mostly emphasizing the new hardware.

“We expect all eligible Windows 10 devices to be offered the upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022,” Microsoft stated to The Verge.

The current users of Windows 10 can now check the Windows update section of the Windows 10 settings area to find out if the latest OS is available for upgrade, or if you are eager to get your hands on the new OS, you can upgrade immediately using new Installation Assistant of Microsoft.

Microsoft’s new devices with the new OS preinstalled are rolling out from today. But it’s not just Microsoft’s New Surface services, new laptops and PCs from HP, Asus, and Lenovo will also be rolling out. Others like Samsung, Acer, and Dell will launch their updated devices shortly.


How to upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10 for free?

Windows 11 packs all the power and security of Windows 10 with new tools upgrade to apps.

However, not all Windows 10-running devices can be upgraded with the latest OS.

The device should have a minimum of 4GB RAM, 64GB and above storage, TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module), and Intel 8th Gen Coffee Lake or Zen 2 CPUs and above for the upgrade.

Free upgrade isn’t available to all eligible systems yet as the company will gradually bring out the upgrade by mid-2022.

Here’s how to update your device…

> Through Microsoft’s PC Health Check App. Check if your PC is officially supported.
> Create a backup for all your important data.
> Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
> Check for updates.
> You’ll get an option to download and install if the free Windows 11 is available.
> Click on download and install and voila.

Your device should be running on Windows 10, Version 2004, or later for the upgrade.
